長嶺亨は脱サラをして父親の山小屋を継いだ。父をなくしたOL、84歳のクライマー、7歳の女の子、ホームレスのゴロさん…美しい自然に囲まれたこの山小屋には、悩める人を再生する不思議な力があった。傑作山岳小説『還るべき場所』の作者が描く登山の魅力。
山の厳しさや素晴らしさを教えてくれた連作短編集でした。
「周りからいくら幸福に見えても、その人が本当に幸福かどうかは本人しかわからない。でも心のなかに自分の宝物を持っている人は、周りからどう見られようと幸福なんだよ」
決して裕福とはいえないけれど、亨もゴロも美由紀も、その仕事、その生活に宝物を見つけているようで羨ましかったです。
自分は今充実しているのか、本当の幸福って何なのかを考えさせられました。
