『第二音楽室』に続く“Ｓｃｈｏｏｌ　ａｎｄ　Ｍｕｓｉｃ”シリーズはオルガン部が舞台。ものごころつく前から教会の鍵盤に親しんだ鳴海は、幼い自分を捨てた母への複雑な感情と聖職者としての矩（のり）を決してこえない父への苛立ちから、屈折した日々を送ります。聖書に噛み付き、ロックに心奪われ、難解なメシアンの楽曲と格闘しながら、高３の夏が過ぎ、そして聖夜。瑞々しく濃密な少年期の終わり。闇と光が入り混じるようなメシアンの音の中で鳴海がみた世界とは。

1冊目は短編集でしたが、こちらは1冊丸まるの長編。
パイプオルガン、私も生で見たくなりました。
できれば弾いてもみたい…。
真っ直ぐで健気な青木さんもよかったけれど、やっぱり鳴海くんのお父さんに一番ぐっと来ました。
